Green Velvet Three-Seat Sofa by Sven Ellekaer for Komfort, Denmark, 1960s

Beautiful sofa from Denmark. This sofa is designed by Sven Ellekaer and part of the “Borneo” seating group by Komfort. It is made of solid teak and in good condition. The cushions are upholstered in new green petrol velvet. Instead of making the filling of the cushions of foam, Komfort made a comfortable construction with springs inside the cushions. These springs have been renewed. Sofa is marked by maker. Sven Ellekaer was a well know designer and architect from Denmark of the 1950s and 1960s. Together with Arne Wahl Iversen and Ole Wancher, they were the top designers of Komfort, a Danish design furniture manufacturer. The pieces of Sven Ellekaer are typical Danish Mid-Century Modern with organic shapes and the use of teak and rosewood.
