Leather and teak lounge chair and ottoman by Sven Ellekaer for Komfort, Denmark 1960s.

Beatiful lounge or arm chair and ottoman from Denmark. Lounge chair and ottoman are designed by Sven Ellekaer and are part of the “Borneo” seating group by Komfort. It is made of solid teak and in good condition. The cushions are made of leather, which has patina and traces of use. Instead of making the filling of the cushions of foam, Komfort made a comfortable construction with springs inside the cushions. This original construction is still present.

Sven Ellekaer was a well know designer and architect from Denmark of the 1950s and 1960s. Together with Arne Wahl Iversen and Ole Wancher, they were the top designers of Komfort, a Danish design furniture manufacturer. The pieces of Sven Ellekaer are typical Danish mid-century modern with organic shapes and the use of teak and rosewood. He mostly designed seating and tables. Some of his most famous items are the Borno seating group with the sofa, lounge chair, coffee and side table. But also his rosewood sideboard, Model 104 coffee table for Christian Linneberg or HM nesting tables for Heltborg Mobler are classic pieces of furniture nowadays. Many of his items will make a great match with other Danish mid-century modern items.
