Verner Panton designed this classic pendant light in 1960 for VerPan, Denmark. This pendant lamp is truly unique with its individual metal slats. The slats can be spread out to form a multi-dimensional, hypnotizing lamp. Because of the gaps between the slats and the light blub in the middle of the pendant, the lighting effect is fabulous. It keeps fascinating from every angle. And because you can freely spread the slats, it is possible to create your own design. You could even make the lamp completely flat.
This is an early vintage model with the original and beautiful bakalite socket. The pendant is in good and working condition.
The Verner Panton is one of the most remarkable designers of the mid-century. He was educated by Arne Jacobsen and is together with Hans Wegner, Finn Juhl, Kai Kristiansen, Nanna Ditzel, Borge Mogensen, Poul Henningsen, Poul Kjaerholm and Kaare Klint among the most famous Danish designers. He created many things like art, objects and furniture. Most of his work has some futuristic styling which introduced the Pop aesthetic to furniture design. Many of his space age designs have won awards and are now true collectors pieces all over the world. Some of his items like his plastic “Panton” dining chair or “K2” metal wire lounge chair, wire cone dining table, “Patonova” side table, “S420” sofa or “Moon” pendant light are well known design classics nowadays.
Lamp is suitable for 220v. But because of the lower voltage in the USA and some other countries it can be used in those countries without replacing the lamp socket. With some lamps we can replace the lamp socket to country standards. Please ask us for the possibilities. If the lamp, for example a floor, table or desk light, has a different power plug, it would have to be replaced by correct country standards. Otherwise a travel adapter could be used.
